Private Chauffeur in Rome — The Eternal City

Rome is simultaneously Italy's political capital, the diplomatic seat of the Holy See, the headquarters of three United Nations specialised agencies, and one of the world's most visited cultural destinations. The Quirinale Palace, the Palazzo Chigi, the Italian Senate and Chamber of Deputies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Farnesina), and the diplomatic missions of 180 countries make Rome a city of permanent, high-level official activity. The FAO, IFAD, and WFP — the UN's three major food and agriculture agencies — have their headquarters in Rome, generating a continuous flow of ministerial delegations and international meetings at the UN campus near the Circus Maximus. And the Vatican, an independent state within the city, draws diplomatic visitors, heads of state, and religious leaders from every country in the world throughout the year.

For private clients, Rome's extraordinary concentration of cultural heritage, luxury hotels, and private venues — from the Palazzo Colonna to the Villa Borghese gardens and the historic villas of the Castelli Romani — makes it one of the world's premier destinations for private events, destination weddings, and incentive travel programmes of the highest order.

Blackcars Rome is part of the Blackcars European network, connecting Rome to Milan (approximately 3 hours by private transfer or by air with airport connection), Florence (approximately 3 hours), Naples (approximately 2 hours 30 minutes), and all European destinations.

Diplomatic & Government Transport

Rome's diplomatic community is one of the largest in the world. The Quirinale Palace (Presidency), Palazzo Chigi (Prime Minister), the Farnesina (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), and the Italian Parliament all generate continuous flows of official bilateral visits and diplomatic occasions. The UN campus near the Circus Maximus — housing FAO, IFAD, and WFP — draws ministerial-level delegations from over 190 countries for governing body sessions, technical conferences, and high-level meetings throughout the year. Additionally, the Holy See receives heads of state and government from every corner of the world for Papal Audiences and bilateral meetings with the Vatican Secretary of State.

We provide exclusively allocated, fully discreet government and diplomatic chauffeur services for all of Rome's diplomatic occasions — ministerial visits, official bilateral meetings, UN agency conferences, Vatican visits, and state-level events. Drivers operate under full confidentiality and are familiar with the access protocols and approved drop-off procedures for all Rome's major official venues.

Corporate Rome & Private Occasions

Rome hosts the Italian headquarters of many major international companies, the ENI and Enel energy groups, and a continuous calendar of corporate events at the Palazzo dei Congressi (EUR), the Auditorium Parco della Musica, and the city's portfolio of historic palace venues. For private occasions — destination weddings at Villa Borghese, Palazzo Doria Pamphilj, or the Castelli Romani villas; corporate galas at the Roman Forum; incentive evenings at the Baths of Caracalla — we provide complete fleet transport coordination from airport arrivals to gala returns across Rome and the surrounding Lazio region.

Personalised Dispatch & Fleet Operations — From One Car to Tens of Vehicles

Blackcars operates a personalised dispatch service capable of managing transport operations of any scale from a single point of contact. A dedicated dispatcher coordinates all vehicles, drivers, pickup sequencing, and real-time schedule changes simultaneously — you communicate with one person, and every car is handled from there.

We have organised and are fully capable of organising ground transport fleets of tens of vehicles for events of every category: UN Rome conference delegations; Vatican official visits; corporate gala events; destination weddings across Rome and the Castelli Romani; and private incentive travel programmes. Every vehicle is exclusively allocated and all drivers operate under full confidentiality.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take from Fiumicino Airport to central Rome?

Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is approximately 30 to 32 kilometres from central Rome. By private chauffeur, the journey takes approximately 35 to 55 minutes under normal traffic conditions via the A91 motorway. During weekday peak hours (07:30–09:30 and 17:00–20:00) and on Friday afternoons, this can extend to 60 to 80 minutes due to congestion on the GRA ring road and the via Aurelia approaches to the city.

What is the difference between Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA) airports?

Fiumicino is Rome's main international airport — all intercontinental and major carrier flights arrive here, including all flights from outside Europe. Ciampino is Rome's secondary airport used almost exclusively by low-cost European carriers (Ryanair, Wizz Air). Ciampino is 15 to 16 kilometres from central Rome — closer than Fiumicino — but has only one terminal and no rail connection directly to the city.

Do you provide transfers to Civitavecchia cruise port?

Yes. The journey from central Rome to Civitavecchia port takes approximately 65 to 90 minutes by private chauffeur via the A12 motorway. We provide direct transfers from Fiumicino Airport to Civitavecchia (approximately 65 to 80 minutes) for cruise passengers arriving by air on embarkation days.

Can you arrange transfers from Rome to Florence, Naples, or Milan?

Yes. We operate direct long-distance transfers from Rome to Florence (approximately 3 hours via A1), Naples (approximately 2 hours 30 minutes via A1), and Milan (approximately 6 hours 30 to 7 hours via A1). We also coordinate with Rome airports for onward flights within the Blackcars European network.
